This past April, the Community Foundation approved our efforts with its first ever Community Impact Award of Herkimer and Oneida Counties.

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Eccl. 1:1). In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, there is much speculation as to why a disaster of this proportion could occur.

While many groups are quick to offer their opinion, many more groups are answering the call to send relief to help people who have lost everything. As of this writing, Compassion Coalition has sent two tractor trailer loads of relief supplies to disaster relief organizations on the front lines. Plans are in place to send a potential weekly load for the next 7-10 weeks. This has been a phenomenal opportunity for the Faith-Based community to work together to relieve suffering for so many.

2 Corinthians 9:8 says that, “God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” The real miracle that we have seen right here at Compassion Coalition during this crisis is that as we give to people in other states, God has abundantly blessed us with more than enough provision for an ever increasing demand in Central New York. Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever!
