How food is acquired...

Compassion Coalition solicits donations of surplus food, household products, and personal care items from grocery chains, manufacturers, retailers, distributors and others. Product becomes available for a variety of reasons ranging from overproduction to nearness of expiration dates to changes in consumer tastes.

Compassion Grocery Store receives product from a number of local supermarkets and distributors; but there are other costs to maintaining a facility where customers want to shop.
